About L3DTVi2

L3DTVi2 is a free and open-source terrain rendering program for displaying L3DT-generated maps. It was originally written by Stuart Gooding in late-2003, and since been hacked occasionally, and usually quite poorly, by Aaron Torpy.

Features

  • Disk-paging of terrain and textures for very large maps.
  • Native support of L3DT's formats (HFF for heightfield, and WMF for water map), plus JPEG, BMP and PNG for textures.
  • Renders non-flat water (ie. lakes can be at different levels to the sea, and one-another).
  • Simple and intuitive navigation interface.
  • Source code is provided with the installation package1).

Support

L3DTVi2 is no longer supported. Users are recommended to switch to using the Sapphire rendering plugin, which is included with L3DT.

1) Note: you will need your own copies of Borland Delphi and GLScene to compile L3DTVi2.
