It's much faster. It's slightly easier to use. It has progress bars. It can be downloaded for free. You can edit the intermediate map, which means you can now define how you want the heightfield to look before it's generated. The gallery has been updated, but the tutorial is now a little out of date.

Hi All,

L3DT release 16.05 is now available for download. The main reason for this release, coming so soon after v16.03, is to fix two bugs:

This revision to L3DT 2.2 is largely a 'look-and-feel' upgrade to make L3DT easier to use - particularly for new users. The main changes include:

Release 2.3a

Release 2.3a is patches the known faults introduced with release 2.3 (see release history). In particular, there were a few bugs in the new 'wizard' dialog system and some of the underlying 'glue-code' scripts. These have been fixed.

L3DT 2.3b available

Many thanks to the beta-testers, who did a great job of stress-testing all the new features (and suggesting new ones). There have been a large number of changes from 2.3a to 2.3b, most of which are listed on the release history page. Below I have summarised the key changes.

Due to popular demand I've rushed L3DT release 2.3c forward a few days, so here it is! Judging by past form, I've probably forgotten something and will need to issue an update in two days time anyhow. Nevertheless, there is much to discuss with this new release:

Some time late last night I made a few small but potentially rather useful additions to L3DT, so rather than hold back I thought I'd pop-out an unexpected and unscheduled update. L3DT 2.3 pre-release available

Hurrah! The last of the serious mosaic errors have been fixed. To celebrate, I've uploaded a beta-version of L3DT 2.3, the full version of which will follow in a week or two.

The main change from 2.2 to 2.3 is the re-implementation of heightfield mosaic maps, which were last seen in L3DT 2.1 (Nov 2003). As a result of this, you can now generate heightfields up to 32k × 32k pixels in size. This version also includes various bug-fixes, op…
