L3DT release 2.8 beta 3

Postby Aaron » Wed Nov 11, 2009 1:35 pm

Hi Everyone,

A few problems were found in the Torque TER plugin included with the second beta release of L3DT version 2.8. These issues have been fixed in the third beta release, which is on the downloads page now. This update includes the following changes to the TER export plugin:
  1. All TER exporters now export with the correct vertical scaling (13.5 fixed precision format, in metres).
  2. All TER exporters now add a small vertical offset to allow further excavation (offset is 16m, or 512 file values, as per Torque default).
  3. The TER exporter for T3D now also exports a stub mission file (as already supported with the TGEA terrain exporter).
  4. The TER exporter for T3D now writes the correct square size to the file.
  5. The base texture DDS written by the T3D exporter is now flipped correctly.
  6. The TER/MegaTerrain exporter for TGEA now assumes a square size of 1. To use other square sizes, please edit the mission file manually or use the editor in TGEA.
  7. The TER export window now has a checkbox to enable/disable exporting of materials. This allows you to skip overwriting material images or script files.
  8. All the Torque export options may now be accessed using the Torque toolbar button in L3DT (see red T's).
  9. The path validation code to check that the terrain is being exported within the game folder has been made case-insensitive.
  10. The TER exporter for TGE was dropped due to insufficient testing. This feature may return in future if requested, but not in time for the release of version 2.8.

If you are using the TER exporter, please download the latest beta release on the download page to receive these bugfixes. Please don't hesitate to reply to this post if you find any further problems or would like to ask questions or make suggestions.

As a final note, I'd like to thank all the users who have tried out these beta releases, and especially those who have taken the time to report the bugs they found. Your efforts have significantly contributed to the quality of the final product, and are most gratefully appreciated.

Best regards,
Aaron.
