Texture map brush

Hi Everyone,

If you'd like to paint roads or otherwise modify the L3DT-generated textures, this one's for you:

I've added a texture map brush to the latest developmental build* of L3DT Standard and Professional (see downloads page). This brush works in both the 2D or 3D map views. The menu options in L3DT are:
  • 3D editor - 'Operations->Texture map->Edit in 3D'.
  • 2D editor - 'Mouse tools->TX brush tool'.
The very same brush also works with the attributes map. The menu options in L3DT for this are:
  • 3D editor - 'Operations->Attributes map->Edit in 3D'.
  • 2D editor - 'Mouse tools->AM brush tool'.
A few notes of interest are:
  1. The editor is usually faster when used with the 2D view than the 3D view.
  2. The attributes map brush is generally faster than the texture map brush.
  3. The 'sample' button works like an eyedropper tool.
  4. The '<auto calc>' land type works a little bit like a magic eraser.
  5. This brush currently supports 'spray-can' and 'solid' patterns.
As is often the case, this feature has been released for evaluation before the documentation has been completed, but I am working on the tutorials now. If you have any pressing questions, please reply to this forum thread. If you find any bugs, please report them here too.

Cheerio,
Aaron.

* That's L3DT release 2.5d build 0, dated 28th of March 2008.

By the way...

This is the first developmental build using the new compiler (MSVC 2008). This means that it may have some new bugs in code that worked just fine in the previous build. It has passed the automated batch testing (with flying colours), but batch testing never covers all of the curly cases that users sometimes find, particularly in user-interface code.

Anyway, please let me know if you find any problems.

Cheers,
Aaron.
