Scale of Features?

What's considered a feature? I don't understand this one at all.

Hi Nicethugbert,

I've written a little guide here, with pics to demonstrate the settings. Please let me know if it still doesn't make sense.

Cheerio,
Aaron.

Thx Aaron. It seems to me that Feature Scale and Altitude Range are the same thing. Is that correct?

Hi Nicethugbert,

Not quite, but I can see how you would get that impression from the guide I wrote. Perhaps what I should have written was more like this:

Feature Scale sets both the horizontal and vertical size of mountains/valleys/etc in the design map. If you increase this value, the hills will get both wider and taller in proportion*.

Altitude Range only affects only the vertical scaling. Thus, it will make hills taller, but won't make them wider. This control is used to make the map steeper or flatter.

Is that a better explanation?

Best regards,
Aaron.

* Random musing: Maybe I should change the extent labels for the feature scale slider from 'vast' and 'tiny' to 'mountain' and 'mole-hill'. Hmmm...that may not work across all (or many) cultures.

That I understand. Thx Aaron.

Maybe just include (Height and Width) and (Height Only)?
