As my pc cannot handle huge maps, i wish to create a map and specify its already created adjacent maps ( N,S,E,W ). The new map would then use the heights of its adjacents as a static basis to form this new map.

Is there a way to do this, im happy not to mix resolutions - eg always use say 4096 size maps, and the climates etc i will have to manage.

Only if you have Mosaic maps which I think is only in the pro version then the program can make maps on most machines up to 16 giga pixels. Of course it takes forever and a day for them to generate
