Hi Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed the break, and I wish you the best of luck for the coming year in all your various fields of endeavour.

As for me; I've picked up where I left off before Christmas. L3DT 2.3c is more-or-less ready, and will include a swathe of bug-fixes, the new high-res texture algorithm, and high-res light-mapping. I've compiled and begun testing the 'Professional' edition, but the 'Standard' edition is held-up on account of the dreaded VC++ 'INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR (1001)', which is one of the most wonderfully nondescript errors that VC can throw (at least it's not an internal linker error; they are the devil). Anyway, I hope to crack this in the next week or so.

I've updated the development roadmap to reflect my plans for 2006/2007:

Cheerio,
Aaron.

Not dead exactly, just extremely relaxed.

Edit:

Oh yeah, and I managed to hoodwink VC into compiling without that ICE(1001), so I think release 2.3c will be ready for release this coming weekend. I'm presently giving it a damn good thrashing using an enormous batch queue of bizarre map definitions to make sure everything works. It's looking good so far.

Big Hi to everyone :)

Not dead exactly, just extremely relaxed

hehe- been pretty catatonic myself over the New Year- got put in hospital by one of our cats     hunky-dory

That looks like a hell of a road map you get there Aaron- yikes! ...No stop signs, speed limit Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me round
Hey Satan, payed my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey Momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land

Chorus:
I'm on a Road map to L3DT 2.5 !
(Don't stop me)

Hmm.. if I remember correctly, the writers of the original song are from Australia. No?

Hello,

That's terrible. I hope the cat is OK (you also).

Bonus points have been awarded for the nice AC/DC reference! I must go and dig-out the old tapes to see if they still work (assuming I can find something that can play tapes). Are you a fan?

Yup, they're national heroes (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC/DC).

Cheers,
Aaron.

 I just can't help myself. Note to self: must spend less time cracking 'jokes' at the expense of the English language.

Oh sorry, I'm not sure if you meant the pun or the mauling. Yes, that was my attempt at a joke. :? Yeah, thanks- it's pretty much cleared up now. No damage done either way. We're best pals again. I love our cats. They get funky in the winter because they prefer to stay indoors. That means they have loads of excess energy. Apparently cat inflicted wounds are dangerous because they have more bacteria in their mouths, because as a rule they are outdoors (dogs as a rule are indoors). This means that their immune systems are more robust which in turn means that they can harbour more (and more virulent) bacteria. Nasty.

Yeah I am- I noted your tastes in music by the way- though not in the usual sense- ie I don't have a collection of albums and have never seen them live. I've grown up with their stuff and whenever I'm in the right sort of pub (not very often nowadays I'm afraid)- usually a bit seedy :) (but full of interesting people and decent beer) I check out the jukebox.
They're one of the few TRUE rockers in the industry- and what's more they have never changed. I mean even Metallica (another cool band) tried to change their image. ACDC never have. Ozzy Osbourne and Johnny Rotten are others- now guitar bands (or guitar based music- how sad of a description is that) and rock and roll are 'in' again (over here anyway). Bollocks- they'll always be 'out'- that's where all the fun is.
The first real guitar I bought was a Gibson SG- the very same that Angus Young plays. He's a very little chap- you can tell because SGs are like toys (VERY light and small) and it looks quite large on him. I was a bit disappointed when I bought it because there was no school uniform with it !!- apparently you have to be a complete Aussie headcase to qualify for one of those  It always amazed me how they got another singer to replace Bon Scott- who could similarly sing like a harpy with its throat slit.
ps I also like Bach- got the St Mathew Passion for Christmas.

The mauling. The pun drew a chuckle

Wow, there's a wacky northern/southern hemisphere difference (in addition to toilets swirling the wrong way). Down here the cats are indoors and the dogs outdoors. The cats kill too much of our extremely cute wildlife (or else get killed by our extremely dangerous wildlife), while dogs just smell too darn much to have in the house.

 aren't your dogs basically dingos though? -heheheh I get the impression that downunder's pretty wild in places.
