Hi Nicco,

That error message is usually generated when you are either:
  • trying to save over a file that is open in another program,
  • trying to save over a read-only file,
  • trying to save into a read-only or system-protected directory, or;
  • trying to save to a directory that doesn't exist.
Do any of these apply here? If problems persist, perhaps you could try saving to another directory (e.g. desktop), and then move the file to the desired directory.

Best regards,
Aaron.

PS: Did you use the 'browse' button to set the file name, or just type it into the 'file name' field? (hint: use 'browse', or else the file may be saved in the current working directory, which may not be writable.)

Thank you aaron,

Finally worked out using the browser and saving into the desktop.

I have another issue though, the exported raw file does not upload correctly into opensim. I am not sure if I am generating the map correctly for that purpose.
I create a heighfield 256x256 using 1m scale with HF/DM ratio 64 (4x4 pixels). When exporting the hightfield, I specify a 'raw' file and under options I set 32bit floating point (meters).
The file gets created but when trying to load it into openssim does not work. I have realized, the file has 256kb size compared to other files I can import which have 832kb. Any clue on what do I do worng?

By the way. Brilliant software, I am just testing the free version to make sure I can do everything I need before getting the professional edition.

Thanks
Nicco

Hi Nicco,

If I recall correctly, the file extension has to be changed to 'r32' for OpenSim. Is that correct?

As for the file size, a 256x256 RAW file with 32-bit (4 byte) precision should be 256kB (256 x 256 x 4 = 262144 = 256k). If your working files are 832kB, I would suggest they are a different map size (e.g. 512 x 416 gives 832kB).

Best regards,
Aaron.
