Hey,

well i think i found my Problem.

Ok i was capture Landscape from Google Earth Pro with 24bit jpeg - i think thats ok - but in this jpeg u can see many labels to find roads and location, see many Fields of Farmers and mutch more.
When i import in L3DT this will be render this Labels and Fields also - the result is the creepy map see here >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0

I was found old Project from me to capture this same Region with SketchUp to load in Rhino. The old file i was save as xxx.png - see here >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0

Now i import this PNG file in L3DT the result is >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0 and here >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0 looks better :)

here the Attribute map >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0
here Terrain normals >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0
here Texture map >> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4Q8- ... authuser=0

this maps all generated automaticly by importing PNG.

Ist this now the right way??
The map r now 6800mx6800m - can i scale to 2048mx2048m?
I have the same Projet also as xxx.3dm - is this better format?
Knows any one - how can i better capture topographic maps for create terrain?

Wish any one can help me - thanks :)

Hi PcEBastian,

I think the problem is that you're importing the satellite image, but what L3DT needs is the heightmap (i.e. the elevation data). To see how to download real-world elevation data for L3DT, please see the SRTM tutorial.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hey,
yeah Aaron you're right :D - i try many ways to create running terrain. The best why what i found is GeoDEM. It works great. I used Google Earth to find my real terrain - than i used Open Topography to take my Region - than i used MicroDEM to make realy nicely and exactly black and white file. This works realy good in L3DT. I now have a fine detailed structure from my Region
Now I can start my project properly.

Thx for Help :)
