Non square map.

Got a problem or need advice?

Non square map.

Postby translucentstudios » Sun Apr 19, 2015 1:20 pm

Hello. I have run into a problem with a non square map. I have a heightmap that is 20404 × 45909. It is set up to use within Unreal Engine 4. I have it this size so I can export it as 5101 × 5101 png grayscale tiles using export overlapped tiles tool. I have it resized to 20401 × 45901 to account for the pixels added to the end on export overlapped tiles. When I try to export it, it wants to change the map to 20401 × 25501, the height gets changed to almost half the size it is supposed to be. Is there a way I can fix this? Thank you for your help in advanced.

Hi translucentstudios,

I apologise for this fault. Could you please send me the log file? You can get to it using the 'All programs->Bundysoft->L3DT [version]->L3DT logs' shortcut in the Windows start menu. That link will open a directory in which you will find a file called 'log.txt'. With the logfile, I will be able to work out what is going wrong. Please collect the log file after the fault occurs in L3DT, and before re-opening the program, as the log file is overwritten at the start of each session.

Best regards,
Aaron Torpy

Hi translucentstudios,

Thanks for the log. It's quite a curious thing. I'll add some more debugging statements to catch the cause of those errors, then try the same resize operation you did, and post back here when done. Thank you for reporting this fault.

Kind regards,
Aaron.

Thank you for the quick responses. I appreciate all your help and it is nice to have a developer that I can talk to directly. Once again thank you!

Hi Translucentstudios,

The log showed the resize calculation was converting from 2027x4368 to 20401x45901 pixels, which seems to be correct from what you wrote. Was the user interface showing the wrong values? (if so, can you post a screenshot?)

I'm looking into the invalid coordinates error message during the resizing calculation now.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Settings For Overlapped Tiles

ScreenNine.jpg

Telling Me I have To Re-size (I need to keep this 20401 x 45901 so that it exports four 5101 tiles wide by nine 5101 tiles high, I subracted the pixels that are added during Overlapped Tiles but from 45901 to 25501 is a major loss)

Hi translucentstudios,

Okay, I think I've found the faults with both the overlapped tile exporter and with the resize operation not preserving the physical extents. I'll run a few more tests to make sure it's all OK, then upload a new dev build. I'll post back here when ready.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Translucentstudios,

The fix is included in the latest developmental build (L3DT Pro 15.04.0.1), which is on the pro downloads page now (please see sales/reg receipt e-mail for link). Please let me know if you find any further problems. Thank you again for the bug report, and for your patience.

Best regards,
Aaron.
