Light Map Shading

Postby LauraEss1957 » Wed Mar 30, 2016 11:46 pm

I'm working on my "Urbania" map and generated a light map and got a strange effect:

To me the darkened area looks like it's below sea level, when all of it is about 4-6m, and the elevation on either side is between 16-20m. Is this just a shadowing to show a canyon type situation?

Hi LauraEss1957,

Some of the light is being absorbed by the water, so the intensity of the light map on the seafloor is darker. Additionally, the some of the light is reflected off the water surface, which again darkens the seafloor slightly relative to the surrounding land. You can turn this on or off in the light mapping wizard.

Best regards,
Aaron.
