Hi,

I'm new with terrain creation tools and just downloaded a standard edition copy. I just have to do this simple project for a friend as a favor.

To get started, what I would like to know is the area if the horizontal scale is set to 60 and you got a 1024x1024 heightmap. So what will be the exact area size? and is it Km2 or sq.km2?

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your question. The horizontal scale is measured in metres per pixel, so if it's set to 60m/pixel, and you've got 1024 x 1024 pixels, the area is 61440 x 61440 metres, or 61.44 x 61.44 kilometres, or 3775 square kilometres.

These numbers are automatically calculated for you in the heightfield size wizard (see highlighted text):
