Material and Climate assistance

Postby Psycho » Thu Mar 27, 2008 10:28 pm

I know how to make a new material and a climate but I can't seem to find the button that applies one that I want to the current terrain. A step by step would be helpful please.[/u]

Hi Psycho,

You have to apply the climate to the design map, and then re-generate the affected maps. The steps are:
1) Open the design map brush.
2) Enable the 'climate' checkbox and select your new climate.
3) Disable all other options in the design map brush, and hit 'apply to all'.
4) Close the design map brush, and re-generate the attributes map, normal map, light map, texture map and alpha maps (as applicable).

Please let me know if there are any problems.

Cheers,
Aaron.

PS: If you're project does not include a design map, then you can skip straight to step four and just re-generate the attributes map, normals, etc. In the attributes map wizard you will be able to change the climate.

Grrr. When I do as you said and comes time to generate the alpha-map I get this error.

calc_TX_GetSpatTextureList error
- GetData failed for 'TexFileName' when making TexList

Hi Psycho,

Does every material have a valid texture associated with it? Can you please send me your climate and materials for testing?

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hy Psycho,

I'm referring to the climate (.cli.xml) and material (.mat.xml) files that you created and saved. They should (must) be in the following directory, or a subdirectory thereof:

Code: Select all
c:\Program Files\Bundysoft\L3DT [version]\Resources\Climates

Please don't send the associated texture images; I won't need them.

If possible, also send the log file from an L3DT session that showed this bug (the log is in the start menu).

Best regards,
Aaron.
