Unable to edit large map in 3D.

Postby demi » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:05 pm

I have a 16 gigapixel map that I am trying to edit and I have run into a problem. I can't edit it with 3D editor.

I can't load the map because it is to big and I am unsure what the answer is so I am asking what to do.

I would suggest maybe making it so you can select several mosaic blocks and edit them in 3D or even a region.

I am considering reducing the thing to a workable level and then expanding it back but I am unsure this is going to work.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Demi,

What's the problem, exactly? Can you send me the error log?

Cheers,
Aaron.

I deleted the thing. it is too dran big.

Error is out of memory

EDIT: Sorry I cut this so short Aaron. I had an appointment early today.

After taking 6 hours to reload the map. I got to thinking that the original plan was to make a 4 giga-pixel anyway. Somehow, and I have no idea how it happened, the program generated a 16 giga-pixel one. I must have missed the settings or something. L3DT is not at fault there.

Anyway, I am going to do a smaller map and I'll get back to you in a couple days. I think the memory problem will still show so I'll email the log when it hits this point.

Sorry,

Hi Demi,

I've reproduced the 'out of memory' event with a large map, and I'll try to sort it out for the next release.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Thanks for taking the time to track it. No rush. I just wanted you to be aware of it.
