"New Script" crashes L3dT

Hey Aaron,

I've been playing around with the rain script and have run into a weird problem. On a clean start-up (no project loaded, although it does happen with a project loaded), if I go to Scripts> New Script, the program immediately crashes.

Similar crashes happen when trying to open a script for editing (I got around that by changing the Editor to an external one).

I've emailed you the log and dat file.

Hi Telarus,

I apologise for this inconvenience. The script editor window was rebuilt a month or two ago. Everything seemed OK in my tests, but evidently there is some compatibility issue on your system. Can anyone else reproduce this fault? (using L3DT v2.9 beta, please)

Later in the week I'll put together a special debugging build that will log each step in the window creation. I'll let you know when it's available.

Thanks for the bug report.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Telarus,

I apologise for the delay. I'm testing a fix today. If it works, I'll include the fix in another (hopefully final) beta release tonight.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Telarus,

Sorry, I forgot to ask earlier: which operating system version are you using? (Vista or Win7; I can't tell from the log).

Regards,
Aaron.

For what it's worth - I tried this and get the same crash on XP 32 SP3. Same repro steps ( i.e. Scripts> New Script on launch), using Beta 2.1

Hi Telarus and David,

Thanks again for the bug reports. I've included the fixed script editor plugin with L3DT v2.9 beta 3, which is on the downloads page now. The fixed script editor has been verified on Windows 7, XP, and Wine/Linux. Given the nature of the fault, I have every confidence it will now work properly in Vista and Win2k also. Please let me know if you find any further problems, and thank you for your assistance and patience.

Best regards,
Aaron.
