more realistic water to land transitions?

It doesn't hurt to ask...

more realistic water to land transitions?

Postby Hypnotron » Thu Apr 20, 2006 3:18 pm

Hello. Im not sure if this has been requested before or not, but I would like to see more options and varations for ocean to land transitions.

For example, I'd like for there to be some rocky, marshy, and some long sandy beaches. Maybe i'm not studying the options carefully enough, but so far the transitions i'm seeing all look the same.

Other than that, no complaints. Great program.

Hi Mike,

I didn't include lots of coastal types in the standard climates because the more land-types you have, the longer the time it takes to generate the attributes map/texture map.

However, the latest beta-release includes a climate editor that allows users to modify these climates, so you can indeed add more land types yourself. That's much easier said than done, however, and as yet there is no definitive guide on how to make/modify climates. If it’s any use, I've got tutorial on the subject half-written (see here). I hope to finish that in the next month or two.

Cheers,
Aaron.
