Wavefront .OBJ export with no texture

It doesn't hurt to ask...

Wavefront .OBJ export with no texture

Postby David Walters » Sat Feb 05, 2011 1:15 pm

Hi, can you allow the OBJ export to work without needing to go any further than the heightfield stage?

I've just tried to use L3DT to kick-start a modelling project that I'll be texturing myself and only need the mesh part.

This isn't a show-stopper but would help a lot in future!

Regards,
David

Secondly can you add an option to use a uniform decimation rather than the adaptive reduction that's currently used?

I realise this might create big meshes at 1:1 but I'd like to sample at 25% or less for the project I'm working on, I'd just like to get a low definition outline of the basic hill shapes - a check box here would make this easy to obtain.

Thanks!

Hi David,

Please use the 'File->Export->Export map layer' menu option, select the 'heightfield' option, then in the export wizard select the 'OBJ' format, and use the 'resize for export' option to affect the uniform decimation. After clicking OK, you will be prompted whether to use the (adaptive) mesh decimator; click 'no'.

Please let me know if you find any problems.

Cheers,
Aaron.
