It doesn't hurt to ask...

[Mode] Texture with Grid overlay?- Smooth Feature

Postby d3f3ct3d » Wed May 25, 2016 11:38 pm

Is it possible to do textured overlay with seeing terrain in mind , if a texture is overlayed its difficult to see the ridges and mountains your flattening etc. here is a concept

Image

For smoothing areas around citys its difficult to leave out parts without smoothing onto them at times. Is it possible to Select an area with a polygon line tool to not interfere with tools

heres a concept , The red zone would be unbrushable by tools

and lastly , A water only Mode overlay on textured Mode

Hi D3f3ct3d,

Thanks for your suggestions, and sorry for the delay in my reply.
  1. Adding a wireframe mesh over the textured terrain should not be terribly difficult, so I've popped it on the dev plan.
  2. Masking editing brushes is unfortunately quite a bit more difficult, so I'll have to think some more about how best to implement that. I agree it would be nice to have.
  3. Making the terrain above / below sea-level more readily visible might be more easily achieved by changing the colour of the wireframe mesh overlay, instead of by using a fragment shader. Would this be acceptable?

Best regards,
Aaron.
