Rulers and Guidelines

Firstly, like Photoshop add an optional horizontal and vertical ruler that the user could toggle on/off. Rulers have: a unit of measure such as pixels, feet, meters, et cetera. It would have marks set at a small unit of measure, or and a heavy mark at a larger unit of measure. The user would set both. For example they might marks set to 5, and a bold mark set to 100m.
Secondly a user could create vertical and horizontal guides. Perhaps this could be done by dragging the cursor (maybe a "guide tool" )from either ruler, creating a guide matching that direction. Guides could be moved by the same means, double clicked on to show (and edit or delete) their position manually, or could be dragged back to the ruler to be deleted .
Guides would be handy to create selections. The selection tool could snap to a nearby guide (this could be toggled) to make it easier to create consistent selections.
