It would be nice if custom Climates were (or had the option to be) automatically migrated from a previous version of L3DT.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would it suffice if I added a 'make global' button to the climate manager, which would copy the climate to a shared location so that all installed versions of L3DT could use and/or modify it? (a la what I did for the shared extensions).
