Yeah, Crysis is kicking all our (terrain app publishers) asses. :D

8) 8) 8)

Wow- I checked that link you sent Oshyan and my oh my. This is what I said to RR a few days ago. First, the game editors will get these features (LOD, overhangs/voxels, etc), then we'll get them. Of course that's going to happen- with their resources. Seeing that cave dug out of the terrain was a real joy- I guess I must really love terrain modelling eh?

If it maintains that what promises...well i'll buy a computer that runs as a starship :D ...and it will be mine!
But, naturally L3DT wil be ever the gravity center of my project (the old Arda Project will be Le Cronache di Arda)

Hey Mauro, I think the PC vessel classification goes something like this at present:

1GB = Fighter
2 GB = Cruiser
4 GB = BattleCruiser
8 GB = Death Star

I think going online in a Death Star can be dangerous due to its gravitional pull!

2 GB = Cruiser (my actual notebook starship...too seasoned) :(
4 GB = BattleCruiser (my next notebook starship...with a quad-core engine, a DX10 tactic visor and a NAND Flash console) :D :D :D

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed Carl Monks; the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force (of modeling Arda with this tool...i hope).

Ah DX10- that is something else!- shame about the Vista box it comes in.

hehe- well I'm only packing a 'mere' BattleCruiser at the moment. But the blue prints are being inked for the Death Star.

Actually- there's not a great deal of point in >4GB for the foreseeable- you need 64bit apps.

It seems that Crysis gives the best of yourself with a DX10 graphic card. But i think that an NVIDIA Quadro card could do his honest work with this software. However, specifications aren't even known; therefore (as usual) the password is only one. WAIT.

Cheers.

Mauro.

Take a look at this:
http://www.crytek.com/CryENGINE2Features.pdf
Imagine a combination of these tools:
- Leveller/Geocontrol to model heightfield and his fine details
- L3DT to generate texture
- CryENGINE Sandbox 2 Editor to assemble/modify/enhance all the world

Would be beautiful if CryENGINE Sandbox 2 Editor supports import of known heightields/textures format and, the most important, if the editor would be bundled with game. I don't know if that will be true: http://www.crytek.com/technology/index.php?sx=eng2

Cheers.

Mauro.
