DesignMap brush Request

Postby DeathTwister » Wed Feb 01, 2006 7:30 pm

Hay Aaron,

I have this idea, but I am a artist not a Programmer so I am not sure how hard this would be to do, but.....

Image

If we could get the brush down to about 1/8-1/10 of that size you have, I could almost use my Wakem Tablet and really use a brush.
I could really control how the mountains would say run down into a pass or many other ideas I was thinking of when you are working from scratch. OMG the detail we could get. So put that on my wish list please. OOh the maps were taken from my Volcano set I posted.

Hi DeathTwister,

The size of the brush is determined by the number of inflation cycles when generating the terrain. At the moment, the design-map gets blown-up 64x to make a heightfield, and thus a pixel in the design-map is a 64x64 block of heightfield pixels. If you want a 1/8th size brush, this will need to be changed to 8x inflation. However, currently there is no interface for changing an algorithm this deeply, but I am working on one. I'll let you know when it's ready.

Also, heightfield editing tools are on the to-do list as well.

Cheers,
Aaron.
