What are you up to?

Hey JohnJ,
I'm sorry I took so long to test it out but I really like your game. I espcially think that you did a great job with the implementation of the music. The only thing that I don't think has been mentioned previously is that if you shoot that little hut looking thing your fire goes through it, and I think it would look cooler if there was a collision with it like there is with the terrain, if what I said made any sense. I hope you do well in that competition.

Aaron: I like your second map too They're both very nice; I'll definitely include them in the next release.
Hinklemister: That's strange.. if you're reffering to the repair station (the brick building with two open ends), you should see smoke, fire, and bricks flying all over. Maybe you don't have the graphical settings turned up high enough? If not, I reccomend you find the maximum detail level your computer can handle, since it looks alot nicer when you do (especially the Effects and Shadows options).

Update: There is now a tutorial describing how to create your own maps for BattleTanks II, so now there's no need to try to figure it all out for your self. You can read it here:

Hi JohnJ,
I've had a little tinker with making tanks - no new models, just mixing-and-matching you models, gun range, refire rate, vehicle speed &c to make some different units. My favourites are the Siege gun and the Gatling tank, the .tank files of which can be downloaded from here. I've also packed together my two favourite maps, Forest (was atMap2) and The beach (new) in the one zip file (also on your projects page).
Cheers,
Aaron.

I like your seige and gatling tanks The Beach map is especially well done, the palm trees give it a nice tropical feel I'm curious as to where you got the palm tree texture (trees have always been difficult to find/create for me).

Hellooo,

Ahh, I might have ripped that out of the Virtual Terrain Project distro. My reading of the VTP license is that this is OK, but I guess if you want to use them in any wider sense, it might be wise to ask the good Mr. Ben Discoe (He of VTP fame) whether this is cool.
Cheers,
Aaron.

Congratulations JohnJ!
Battle Tanks II is well-deserved winner, and a marvellous effort. Very well done.

Here are some screenshots of BattleTanks III (WIP):
I've added 3D grass, fences, and a map editor. I'm hoping to add tank tread tracks, improved trees, realistic physics, (fake) HDR effects, reflective water, destroyable buildings and fences, lots of missions, a better command system, a promotion and award system, possibly multiplayer, and much more.
I'm making BattleTanks III for a publisher wants to sell a expanded version of BattleTanks II.
