Tropical Climates?

Postby Missouri76 » Mon Dec 05, 2011 5:03 am

Why are flowers in tropical climates so brightly colored?
I know all flowers are brightly colored, but I`ve noticed the ones in tropical climates are hot pink and bright orange and yellow, why??

Also, I know I already asked this but the last one didn`t get any answers.

Hi Missouri76,

To my knowledge, we don't have any practising botanists, ecologists or evolutionary biologists lurking in this forum. You may have to seek these answers elsewhere.

Cheerio,
Aaron.

I suppose they have to be bright to attract insects or something :) that's kind of an evolutionary thing, they assimilate and adapt their colors to the environment. That's just what I think though, I'm not a scientist.
