Allocating Spring mapsSpring map files contain a number of map layers, in addition to the heightfield and texture. These maps include metal maps, grass maps, and so forth. Before you can edit these maps, you must first create the maps by selecting the the 'Allocate Spring maps' button in the Spring Mapping wizard, highlighted below: After you select this option, L3DT will list the maps that were allocated: This option will also enable more of the buttons in the Spring Mapping wizard, as shown below: Note that the six 'edit […] map' buttons have changed from red to yellow. This means that you can now edit these maps. The next page in the tutorial explains how to edit the starting points map.
