The blank designable map option in the new project wizard allows you to generate a completely empty design map, that you may then edit manually. If you choose this option, you will be asked to input the heightfield and design map size (using the heightfield size and design map size wizards), but you will not have to set any of the other design map parameters (otherwise seen in the design map parameters wizard).
