Very large map with varying terrain

I understand that I can create very large heightfields with the PRO version using disk paging. Does such a very large heightfield have only one setting for generation (e.g.one set of Design map parameters)?

I would like to create a very large map that includes various types of terrain (mountains, rolling hills, desert, etc.).

Is it possible to achieve that with L3DT?

Hi Trips, welcome to the forum.

Yes, this is possible, but you will want to be familiar with the many layered workings of the Design Map, Climates (how to define your own), and how the generation algorithms work.

I'd suggest getting started with Aaron's excellent Fjords Tutorial, and then the other tutorials here:

Then look through the official User Guide to find the areas you are interested in:
