Editing the active map layer

You may manually edit the map layer displayed in the main window by selecting the 'Layers→Edit layer…' option in the menu, or by clicking on the 'edit active map layer' toolbar icon, shown below:

This option will automatically open the editing tool appropriate for the map layer being viewed.
