Some L3DT Vids for you all

I would like comments so I can decide if these are MMOG capable.

Sorry you have to unzip these. The render in the 3D engine(L3DT) does not do streaming video. Maybe a fix?

I like to tell the lore history about my terrains so please humor me too. :)

-------
Legend has it that the great Mac'Klin dessert was caused by nuclear winds that ripped across the earth in 2043. The nuclear holocaust devastated this area and exposed the lower layers of rock. The winds carried the debris many kilometers into the northern Territory of Hel'Gol forming hills and mountains there.

Over the last 50,000 years the rocks eroded from natural events and made sand. Various plants grow here now but because of the lack of good soil and nutrients, the ecosystem does not allow them to reach decent populations. It is told that great sandstorms can be seen here at certain times. There are vast channels that hold radio active contaminated water and strange creatures run in these valleys.

The great city located here known as Mac'Klin holds the key to the location of the great dungeon called Ho'Lok.

ENTER HO'LOK IF YOU DARE!

ALSO. I went mountain climbing today. :)

Hi Demi,

Very nice. I'm glad to see the video plugin getting such a workout.

I would like comments so I can decide if these are MMOG capable.

If anything, I'd suggest you decrease the terrain horizontal scale. I found the mesh triangles quite noticeable and distracting, particularly in the mountain-climbing vids.

The render in the 3D engine(L3DT) does not do streaming video. Maybe a fix?

I think not; video is not a core feature of L3DT, and I don't want to spend more development time on video unless it's absolutely necessary and there are no other workarounds. If you want to use fancier codecs, I recommend you transcode the video file in VLC. That's what I do.

Youtube, perhaps?

Cheerio,
Aaron.

PS: Congratulations on your hundredth post!

I noticed the raggedness too. The resolution was 8 meters on that one.

I have reduced the resolution to 1 meter on the next test map I am working on. I am trying out some ideas so I can't say they will work just yet.
