SnowlinesDoes anybody have any pointers on getting these to appear naturally, or otherwise? What's the nature of a snowline? Is it impassable terrain?
Hi Nicethugbert,
To introduce a snowline, I suggest you edit the altitude parameters for the 'snow' land type in your climate. Setting the altitude range is explained in the climate tutorial: http://www.bundysoft.com/wiki/doku.php? ... climate:02
My understanding is that, at a certain elevation the air temperature drops to below 0 degrees celcius, and consequently any precipitation that falls on the surface will be snow, and will remain as snow. The snowline simply denotes the elevation where on one side it is colder than 0 C and on the other it is warmer than 0 C.
Not usually. The ground just gets frosty underfoot. Depending on the depth of snow it may become difficult to move, but not impassable. Ah, what am I doing? I should just point you to the all-knowing Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowline Regards, Aaron.
