I am getting private emails indicating that my computer is infected and to go to a website or my account will be deleted. They then send you to a website that is infected with a virus.

I'm got an email this morning saying :

"You have received a new private message to your account on "L3DT Users' Community" and you have requested that you be notified on this event. You can view your new message by clicking on the following link:"

And there is nothing there. Is this the same problem?

Hi Guys,

I apologise for the spambot. I've now modified the forum software to prevent newly-registered users from posting PMs or e-mails to other users until they have first made posts in the public forum.

Please let me know if any spam problems continue.

Gryff wrote:...And there is nothing there...

I had deleted the offending user by that time, so the PM was automatically deleted from your inbox.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Crowe2Extreme,

I intend to, but to be safe I'd need a couple of days free just in case it doesn't go smoothly. The forum database is also used for the front page, the gallery, the wiki, the blog, and the documentation. Last time I updated phpBB, it broke compatibility with one or more of these other parts of the site, and it took a few days to rectify. Should there be any problems in updating again, I'd like the safety of having the time to fix the problems. I might have some free time in the next couple of weeks, but I make no guarantees.

Cheers,
Aaron.
