Hi Kasimashi,

I'm sorry, L3DT does not have an 8 bit export option for the attributes map. I'm writing a script to do this now, and will let you know when it's available for testing.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Kasimashi,

On the downloads page now you will find L3DT 12.09 build 0, which includes a new script that will allow you to export the attributes map as an 8 bit RAW file.

Once you have downloaded and installed the new build, load your map project, then select the 'Scripts->More scripts' menu item, and select the 'Convert AM to BYTE' option to run the script. The script will first ask you to enter the output file name, and will support either RAW or BMP file extensions. Once you have selected the output file name, the script will begin the conversion. Please note that the conversion is quite slow because it is being run in a script (if this becomes a problem, I can re-write the function in a plugin, which will run faster). The script will notify you when the conversion is complete, at which point you will find your output file has been written, along with a palette text file that gives you the list of land type names to go with the greyscale levels. A typical palette text file might look like:

Code: Select all
11: Dry grass
14: Steep dry grass
15: Steep dry grass (2)
16: Cliff face
17: Steep cliffs

In the above example palette, a greyscale value of 11 means dry grass, 14 means steep dry grass, etc.

Please note that the greyscale levels will generally be in the range of 1-15 or so, depending on how many land types are in the climate being used.

Please also note that this script will produce dodgy results if you are using one or more climates in your map. If this becomes a problem, let me know, and I will make the script cleverer.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Kasimashi,

Your request has been added to the to-do list. I will post back here when it is has been completed. I cannot provide an estimate of the completion time just yet, as there are currently a number of bugs outstanding, and fixing these take priority over feature requests.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Kasimashi,

There is no link, because I have not yet built the faster exporter. I will let you know when it has been written and is available for testing.

Best regards,
Aaron.

Hi Kasimashi,

Can you tell me what sized attributes maps you are exporting (in pixels), and how long the current script-based exporter is taking for each map?

Best regards,
Aaron.
