Curious anyone has imported terrian to TGEA

Postby Madcowthomas » Fri Mar 23, 2007 7:18 pm

Been reading on the matter and not getting a clear picture on how to insert a terrain from L3DT.

Hoping this weekend get sometime to figure this out. Anyone can help me fill in the holes on this would greatly apprenticed any help.

Some the issues I'm having is when creating a map and exporting it to TGE about 94% done L3DT crashes. So this has hinder me in getting much further.

Was able to get one exported the other night. Placed this files in the terrain folder in TGEA and looked into the scripted to see what code is needed. Found nothing in the script file that indicates that need to add any code.

Due the lack of documention feel that swimming in murky water searching for some light.

When able to understand how to install terrains into the engine then be able to move forward. Then continue trying to understand how to create terrains with the images see in my head. Fear that creating the ideas I like to see is going to be a huge wall to cross.

Figure over time will begin to grasp the DM tool here , but right now its over whelming.

There are a number of posts on GG developers private board with links to the procedure. I myself stopped playing with it months ago so not sure of the links. you may want to search http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/TDN_Home. go TSE/Atlas/Create a Terrain/L3DT You need to be licenced to use this developers network and I assume you are since you have TGEA

I have a fairly complete tutorial on my website. Don't bookmark it, because I'll probably be moving it soon. Until that time, though, you can find it at:

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Thomas, glad it was helpful to you. There are a few other TGEA tutorials there as well. I actually have several sites myself, I just haven't decided where I want to put the Torque-specific items. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and move them to my game's site (http://www.ExodusProject.com) I'll post here with the specific URL when the move is complete.

Take care,

Hey all,

@Kilo
Why dont you post the tutorial on the TDN wiki?
The documentation is pretty shoddy on there and it could do with more quality tutorials like yours.
Just a thought :)
