Got a problem or need advice?

creating large world from pieces

Postby lhobbit » Wed May 02, 2007 4:02 pm

Hello,

on the begining I would like to say that this is really good software!

I'm currently looking for way to generate worlds for my project. My question to L3DT is maybe simple but I can't find answer in documentation.

I need to generate worlds piece by piece - is there any way to have matching edges for sequently generated terrain maps if I will have mateched edges in design or height maps for them?

Greetings

I ran a few tests awhile back to attempt this. The tests were ran on 2.3 so maybe it has changed.

If you generate a map of 1024x1024 and then make another using the edge of the first, the land mass will not be exactly the same. The only way it would was to make multiple maps and copy the designs onto one map using water to fill the empty squares.

Yeah, I was looking for this functionality too. Unfortunately L3DT does not support this kind of thing natively. Aaron told me this could theoretically be possible if one were determined enough to create a plugin to achieve that effect.
