Hi,
i wonder how it is possible to mix different climates with a smooth blending ?
in my picture i have painted some dessert climate in my design map, but the blending is hard and not naturale:
the behind is i develop a map for spring. and dont want just variate the
ground texture with the gradient etc. parameters, i would like to "paint"
different materials in my map. is there any better way i could do this ?
btw: aaron, your spring export/import plugin is well done
regards

Hi Silent303,
Smooth blending is achieved using the 'anti aliasing' option in the texture wizard. This is currently a very slow option, but it has been sped-up greatly in the next release.
is there any better way i could do this ?
You might also like to try the attributes map brush, which lets you paint land types directly. To use this tool, view the attributes map ('view->show map'), then select the 'edit' tool on the toolbar.
Cheerio,
Aaron.

Hi SIlent303,
Oops, there is a bug in the code that refreshes the map display when painting large maps (the mipmaps aren't updated properly). This has been fixed in the next release.
Cheers,
Aaron.

hi aaron,
i just tested the attribute map editor and it works fine ! i would wish like to have a "spray" brush or even other types of brushes to paint, also it would be very nice to have something like "opacity" to just paint over a existing climate with eg. 50% to create some nice climate layer effects

Hi Silent303,
Thanks for the suggestion. Spray-paint brushes are on the to-do list, as are attributes map brushes for the 3D editor. We can't do opacity mapping with the attributes map unless I rewrite about half of L3DT, but you can probably achieve the desired result with judicious use of texture layers in land types and/or anti-aliasing.
Hmmm...then again, I could modify the alpha map generation process to allow you to edit the alpha maps manually, and then write a new texture combiner to use those alpha maps instead of the attributes map. I'll have a thinker about it...
Cheers,
Aaron.
PS: Regarding the heightfield schemes; this menu option has never been implemented. I'll be re-working all view schemes (DM, HF, etc) in a future release, and at that point I expect to add some options for heightfield display schemes (or otherwise remove that item from the menu).
