Hey Kane,
It all depends on what you are after...
The standard GT has:-
- GeForce 8800 GT core running at 600MHz
- Shader Clock Speed of 1500MHz
- 512MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1800MHz
The BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2:-
- GeForce 8800 GT core running at 675MHz
- Shader Clock Speed of 1674MHz
- 512MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1950MHz
The Asus GeForce EN8800 GT TOP has:-
- GeForce 8800 GT core running at 700MHz
- Shader Clock Speed of 1750MHz
- 512MB GDDR3 Memory running at 2000MHz
(this card isnt due out for a week or so in the uk...Maybe its out where you are...)
so buying a OC card will give you better performance...but to what extent, i am unsure.
And you have to ask if the extra 100-200 mhz is worth the increase in price
From what i can tell the OC2 card is a good deal for these reasons:-
1. its faster...Its pre overclocked, so you wont ruin your warranty by trying to OC it your self.
2. Its only a little more expensive....Usually OC'd cards are substantially more expensive than their standard counterparts.
What you are looking for in a OC'd card is:-
-increased Core speed
-increased Clock speed
-increased Memory speed
The higher the better....but only you can decide which card is right for you and your budget.
But at a push... i would say BFG are a good make... get the OC2 now or wait for the Asus EN8800 GT TOP to see if the pricing in reasonable.
Hope that helps
