Hi Aaron.
I'm trying to build a sample terrain using Desing/Inflate.
I'm checked all steps of Calculation Wizard.
I left all parameters to default except LM/HF (4) and TX/HF ratio (4).
When the process go forward from AM to LM, in the error log appear this:
- Code: Select all
calc_LM_lighting warning: - bump mapping was already applied to the normals map
Cheers.
Mauro.

Hi Mauro,
Thanks, I know about this one. What's happening here is that, by default, the normal-mapping wizard is applying bump-mapping, and so-to is the light-mapping wizard. Doing it twice is redundant, so the light-mapping algorithm flags this as a mistake and pops the warning.
My options are:
1) Disable redundant bump-mapping quietly, without a warning.
2) Give you a warning in the wizard dialog, rather than during the calculation.
3) Change the presets so that only one calc includes bump-mapping by default.
I don't like option #1 because it's poor form to change the user's settings without telling them. Option #2 is the best, but will take a bit of extra logic. I'll do this when I get around to it. Option #3 is a good quick-fix, which I'll include in the next release.
Cheers,
Aaron.

Talking about the rev 9..., I just downloaded it and found the following problems:
-Now I don't seem to be able to draw a continuous line using the D\M Pencil, it only can draw a dot per mouse click.
-If you create a new blank map, then discard it and create a "generated one" the calc tab is disabled and no map is generated. Then you have to generate it manually or create a new "generated one" and it works again.
-If you create a new blank map, lets say 16 x 16, discard it and then create a bigger one, lets say 64 x 64 it show the following error:
CL3DTView::RedrawBufferRegion warning:
- Full buffer redraw required
Thats all for now, I hope I haven't missed any info available about this problems.

Hi Ch3rokee,
Wow, thanks for the round-up. The first and third errors you reported are due to some changes I made when revising the rendering system ( see this thread). The second bug is probably due to some dodgy logic in the calc wizard, which clearly needed a bit more testing. I'll fix these in the next week or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best regards,
Aaron.

Yep, just spotted the continuous Pencil not working.
I also had a problem loading up an image overlay of size 4K (a png). It took a while to load in and then it sits there at 100%

Hi Monks,
Does the image display eventually, or is L3DT locking-up? It could be that I've just mis-counted the number of steps in the progress bar (I do that quite often.) I'll look into this later today or tomorrow.
Cheers,
Aaron.

Hello,
Just a quick progress report on this bevy of bugs:
The pencil-dragging bug has been fixed.
The bump-map warning bug (reported by Mauro) has been fixed.
The 'CL3DTView::RedrawBufferRegion warning' message has been removed (nothing to worry about).
I'm re-testing the image drape now. I hadn't tried it on large drape image sizes, and indeed there were a few problems.
I'll fix the 'all calculations disabled' bug (reported by Ch3rokee) once the drape is fixed.
When this batch is done, I will upload a new dev build.
Cheerio,
Aaron.

Hello,
I've uploaded a new update (v2.4.1.12). This one should fix the bugs listed above.
Monks, if the drape bug persists, could you please send me the drape image you're using? (mailto:aaron.torpy@yahoo.com) 'twould help greatly in testing.
Cheers,
Aaron.

Hi Mauro and Ch3rokee,
Can you please confirm for me that you no longer find these bugs in the latest dev-build (2.4.1.12)? I'm pretty sure I've got them, but I thought I should check with you before I closed the item on the to-do list.
Best regards,
Aaron.

Of course Aaron, I downloaded 2.4.1.12 the day you released it and I can tell you that you did a fine job. Everything works fine now and I like the way you fixed the "incompatibilities" of the calc menu.

Ok, I shouldn't have talked so soon , I just finished painting a complex design map, and It will not generate the height field, showing the following error:
CMapGroup::DM_GenMap error:
- Unrecognised design map algorithm
This build doesn't generate "blank" painted design maps.

After changing the algorithm to PeakDM to be able to continue the work in this map, I found that there is a problem that prevents the height field to be generated if there isn't at least a dot of erosion, peak, etc. It show the following error:
CMapGroup::HF_Inflate error:
- cannot inflate to a map size larger than 8192 x 8192.
CMapGroup::HF_HybridMethod error:
An operation has failed
The thing is that the map is 6144x6144 and work great with a dot of erosion for example.
Maybe it's because I changed the algorithm, but if not, now you something estrange.
