Crash on startup

The most common cause for L3DTVi2 to crash on startup is when one or more of the maps have been saved in an unsupported format. L3DTVi2 supports the following formats:

Map type Supported files Required?
Heightfield 16-bit HFF only Yes, HF must exist
Water map WMF only No, optional
Normals map .bmp or .jpg No, optional
Light map .bmp or .jpg No, optional
Normals map .bmp or .jpg No, but terrain will be black otherwise

The formats used for the other maps in the project should not matter.
