Texture sizes

Postby Jufa » Fri May 25, 2007 11:06 am

Can I replace the original textures with textures that are 1024x1024 in size?

Thanks.

Yes, you can either save over the files, or change the textures specified in the climates. The textures are set in the 'texture settings' tab of the land type editor:

http://www.bundysoft.com/docs/doku.php? ... edit:pane3

...which is opened from the climate editor:

http://www.bundysoft.com/docs/doku.php? ... es:cliedit

...which is opened from the climate manager:

http://www.bundysoft.com/docs/doku.php? ... es:manager

...which is opened from the 'Climates->Climate manager' menu option.

Best regards,
Aaron.

So if I use larger textures, it doesn't mess up anything ?

Hi Jufa,

Depending on the contents of your new textures, you may need to do a bit of tweaking of the texture layer settings to get the milti-texturing/stretching/colouring right, but other than that I would not expect any problems.

Cheers,
Aaron.

Just going to ask a similar question. Aaron, do any of the default txs have alpha, or bump maps? If so, are these types of maps limited to those txs, or can I include others ?

Hey Aaron,
I take it you pre process the textures to remove lighting information and edit the so that they tile seamlessly, right?

Hello,

They don't have alpha - I calculate the alpha weightings in the texture generator. Most textures have associated bump maps (usually texturename_bump.jpg). You can include any more textures/bump-maps you like, and mix-and-match in any way you like.

That has been done, but not by me. Those textures came from the free texture site Lemog 3D, by Laurent Antoine.

Cheers,
Aaron.
